Day 6 – Life in Slow Motion

We motored through a stretch of ocean so surreal and beautiful that it felt like we’d accidentally sailed into a screensaver. Then sunrise hit—and just to show off—a whale glided by in the distance. It was one of those moments where you think, oh sh… am I am still sleeping? This has to be a dream and I am supposed to be on watch!
It felt like life or fate or some higher power wanted to reward us for all these grey days of the past few years.

A perfect moment of gratefulness.

Once the kids woke up, we instantly shifted from spiritual ocean appreciation to “pass the freshly baked Kanelbullar before someone eats them all.” We enjoyed the slow pace of the morning, cheering on the flying fish as they launched themselves out of the water like tiny, panicked superheroes in search for a safer place.

And honestly—how lucky are we to have Cornelius on board? The man brought card games AND a card-shuffling machine for the boys, which has already provided hours of entertainment and at least seven sibling truces. And with his calm, easygoing attitude, we’re all having an even better time out here.

Later, we hoisted the spinnaker, hoping it will carry us toward the finish line…slowly!

What a beautiful experience for you! Glad to hear mention of Cornelius – I was starting to wonder if he’d been thrown overboard!!

Sounds like he’s been a good fit for Akuna! 👏👏
