The heartbreak is real.
Tonight will be our last night sleeping on Akuna… and man, it’s hard.
As I’ve written many times before, this boat has been so much more to us than “just a boat” — or even “our second home.”
She was our rescue island when life dealt us hard seas. When we thought the next wave might take us under. When the nights were dark and grim, and fear seemed to consume us completely.
But it didn’t.
Because there was always Akuna — and the dream that lived on her.
The dream that one day we would set off. And just as she had carried us through the rough seas in our heads, she would carry us through the real waves too — taking us to places we knew existed, but had no idea just how magical they would be.
And she did.
Hardier than her crew, she withstood every rogue wave, every squall, every gust, and held us on course.
And we got to live the dream that lived on her. We made memories that will stay with us forever. She changed us. She made me stronger. And, perhaps most precious of all, she gave us this incredible time together.
Akuna — wherever you go from here, a piece of my heart will always be with you.
And on those grey days to come, I’ll close my eyes, dream myself back to your helm, feel the wind on my face, and hope that somehow, somewhere, you’ll still be holding my course.
Thank you for everything. ❤️
